Isn’t it amazing how quickly we can adjust to darkness?
I notice this most nights when I go to bed early. My husband graciously takes care of the last-minute tasks like locking the doors, turning off lights and making sure everything is settled while I crawl into bed and enjoy the rare gift of quiet.
As the night goes on, and let’s be honest, in midlife that can mean getting out of bed more than once, something interesting happens.
By the second trip across the bedroom, I don’t even bother turning on a light. I know exactly where the dresser is, how to avoid the corner of the bed and which floorboard will creak if I step on it.
