Project H.E.L.P. And the Windsor School District will offer free developmental screenings on Thursday, February 11 at Windsor Christian Church, 1100 Broadway in Windsor. These screenings provide parents the opportunity to discover how their child is developing in the areas of speech, language, concepts and motor skills. NAMI is offering a free eight-session peer education program for family members, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. The program will be taught by NAMI-trained family members who have been there and includes presentations, discussions, and interactive exercises. The program is open to adults and those 14-17 when attending as a participant and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Sessions will be held Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. from February 2-March 23 (March 30 if needed).
The number of participants for the program will be limited to 10-12. A meeting place in the Mattoon area is to be decided. The University of Illinois Extension, in cooperating partnership with sponsors Decatur Catholic Charities and Windsor School District will be having a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, February 10 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. You must sign up prior to February 2 by calling 217-855-5616 during business hours of 8 am to 4 pm Monday-Friday. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. Food will be distributed according to your household size on Feb 10, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Windsor Grade School cafeteria.
