LLC Announces Fall Semester Honors List

Lake Land College recently announced that more than 500 part-time students earned academic honors for the 2021 Fall semester.
To qualify for the president’s list, a student must have completed six to 11 credit hours in courses numbered 040 or higher per semester, excluding summer term, with a GPA of 3.8 – 4.0.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have completed six to 11 credit hours in courses numbered 040 or higher per semester, excluding summer term, with a GPA of 3.65 – 3.79.
To qualify for the honor’s list, a student must have completed six to 11 hours in courses numbered 040 or higher per semester, excluding summer term, with a GPA of 3.5 – 3.64. Read More
SHS Scholastic Bowl Competes at State

Congratulations to the SHS Scholastic Bowl team for qualifying and competing in the IHSA State Scholastic Bowl Meet this past Friday. The team won the IHSA Class 1A Sectional tournament in Robinson on Saturday March 12th defeating Webber 310-190, Robinson 270-150, and Cumberland 270-250. The championship against Cumberland went to double overtime. Lara Herschberger and Paul Bates came through by answering the tossups to give us the upper hand in the end. We were led by Paul Bates with 13 tossups on the day. Clayton Schmohe had 12, Lara Herschberger had 5, Aaron Stutzman had 3, Brent Helmuth 1, and Lilly Graham 1.
Low Brass Day April 1

Millikin University’s School of Music presents Low Brass Day, an engaging and educational event for all high school low brass players, on Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Low Brass Day will be held in Perkinson Music Center on Millikin University’s campus. Registration for the event is $10 and includes lunch and participation.
Millikin University’s Low Brass Day is a special event for high school low brass players featuring a group warm-up, jazz improvisation clinic, a trombone choir led by Dr. Gary Shaw and a tuba/euphonium choir led by Tim Schachtschneider. Read More

Did you know that 11% of people in America are terrified of animals, including cats?
So claims the news release I just read promoting a book on phobias.
I haven’t independently verified this as fact, but if you were to visit my home at about 10 every night you’d witness the 15-minute window during which I’m terrified of my own cats, because that’s when they get the rip-roarin’ Zoomies.
But that’s not why I’m writing about this.
The copy writer says the book includes our fears “from agoraphobia to arachnophobia.”
