Summer Music Festival
Sullivan First United Methodist Church held a music festival on Saturday, July 24. Musicians included Jeff Mayberry, Collage of Faith and Mackville. There was also food and cold drinks for purchase. Pictured is Jeff Mayberry performing under the pavilion during the event.

Plant A Rainbow
Addy Hendry (right) fills a pot with soil before planting New England Aster seeds in it. Keegan Payne (left), an Environmental Educator at Douglas-Hart Nature Center looks on. Payne presented a program called Plant A Rainbow at Marrowbone Public Library in Bethany on Thursday, July 22. She talked about prairie animals and plants and the process of pollination. There were also two games that children played one about pollination and the other about migration and the importance of prairie plants to that process.

Red Cross Blood Drive At Post 68
Don Book donated blood during the drive at the Sullivan American Legion Post 68 held Tuesday, July 13. A total of 55 units of blood were collected. The next drive at the Sullivan American Legion will be on Saturday, September 18 from 8 am to 2 pm. That drive will be the River Faith American Red Cross Honor Drive.

Sullivan Farmers Market
Paul Feist sells produce at the Sullivan Farmers Market in the pavilion on the southwest corner of the square. The Sullivan Farmers Market is every Wednesday until the end of October from 4 to 7 pm. It is free for vendors to setup and there are no reserved spaces so vendors setup tables where space is available.

Local Author At 5 West Coffee and Wine Lounge
Local author Jennifer Hobbs had a book signing and reading at 5 West Coffee and Wine Lounge on Thursday, July 15. Her book “CALMED. Growth After Trauma” was released on July 1. Jennifer is pictured with her husband Ryan.

Mo. Co. VFW Post 6410 Receives Donation
On Saturday, June 26, Commander Marty Poling of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8, Champaign and Vermillion Counties, presented a donation to the Moultrie County VFW Post 6410 Quartermaster Jeff Nichols, in the amount of $2819.37. The DAV Chapter 8 has recently announced the retirement of their chapter and designated VFW Post 6410 as the final recipient of the chapter’s funds. The donation will enable VFW Post 6410 to continue their mission to provide assistance and emergency funds for veterans in Moultrie County and the surrounding area. Tommy Houser Memorial Golf Tournament
The Tommy Houser Memorial Golf Tournament was postponed to Saturday, July 3 due to rain and wet conditions at the golf course. However, the silent auction, steak dinner and music from Identity Crisis was still held on Saturday, June 26 as planned at the Sullivan VFW. Proceeds from the event go towards the Thomas Houser Memorial Scholarship Fund. To inquire if there is room to play during the golf tournament contact Elizabeth Houser at 217-962-0189.
