Bethany Fire Protection District Presented With Plaque
Last Monday afternoon, June 21, Richie McCabe Jr. presented a plaque to members of the Bethany Fire Protection District. McCabe Jr. said that it took 3 to 4 days to construct the plaque as well as paint and stencil it. He presented the plaque as a thank you to the members of the department for being there for two of his family members when they needed the department’s assistance. “It’s a thankless job so when we get recognized it feels good,” Bethany Fire Chief Mike Jennings said “Realistically people call us on their worst day so when they come back and thank us it means it made a difference.” From left to right: James Burns, Willy Kastning, Richie McCabe Jr., Fire Chief Mike Jennings and Jim McMahan.

Day of Prayer and Appreciation for Law Enforcement
Sunday, June 13, was a Day of Prayer and Appreciation for Law Enforcement. The Highway Church of Christ, along with the community, wanted to let the officers know they appreciate all they do and support them each and every day while on duty. Windsor Summer Reading
The Windsor Storm Memorial Public Library held a summer reading program last Tuesday morning. Kim McQueen read a story and then children decorated cupcakes provided by Bailey Leasher, a cake decorator. Pictured above is Mia Lovett with her decorated cupcake.

Summer Reading Kickoff Party
The Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library held their summer reading kickoff party on Friday, May 28. There were 2 inflatables, snowcones and kids could sign up for the summer reading program while they were there. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Your World.” For more information on summer reading visit the circulation desk at the library. Photo Submitted 4-H Grant Farm Credit Illinois recently awarded a community grant in the amount of $500 to the Moultrie County Shining Stars 4-H Club. The club chose to donate a bench to Sullivan Elementary School Playground. Club members and parents helped pick out the bench, including the style and color. 2020-2021 Club President Sarina Voegel contacted SES Principal, Leslie Guyot to ask about the need for a bench and then contacted her again to tell her the 4-H club had been awarded the grant. The Moultrie County Shining Stars were one of more than 40 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters in Illinois who received one of these grants. More than $30,000 in grant funds has been awarded to clubs and chapters in the last decade making tangible contributions in their communities by implementing improvement projects.
