Ralph Dolan

Ralph Ames Dolan, 81, of Sullivan, passed away at 3:22 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Aspen Creek in Sullivan.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in French Cemetery in Allenville.         Ralph was born November 19, 1934 in Mattoon, a son of Carl Layton and Myrtle Ames Dolan. He graduated from Sullivan High School with the class of 1953, served in the Army and was a graduate of Eureka College. He served as the payroll master at the Palmer House in Chicago and also worked at Blaw-Knox in Mattoon as a security guard. In his retirement he worked at the Mattoon Walmart as a welcome greeter. Ralph was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Sullivan. He was an avid reader and a dedicated sports fan who loved the St. Louis Cardinals; Ralph loved fishing, hunting and all of his animals he cared for on the farm. Read More

Roger Gustin

Roger Orval Gustin, passed away peacefully February 28, 2016 at the age of 81 ending his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his immediate family.

Roger was born June 20, 1934 in Sullivan, graduating with the high school class of 1952 where he was a member of the H.S. band and lettered in basketball, baseball, football and track. Roger received his bachelor degree from Millikin University in Decatur and then his master’s degree in administration and teaching credential from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. In 1960 Roger moved to Madera, California and started teaching at Madera High School from where he retired in 1992. In 1963 Roger married Joan Cappelluti of Madera, and they were together for 47 years. She predeceased him in 2010.  Read More
