A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 2 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1523 Main St. in Danbury, Tex. Friends may meet the family two hours prior to the service at the church. Patricia J. Horath, 65, of Sullivan passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan with visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in French Cemetery in Sullivan.

Patricia was born November 15, 1950 in Decatur, a daughter of Vernon E. and Evelyn M. McElravy Jack. She married Tommy J. Horath August 9, 1970 in Sullivan, and he preceded her in death December 7, 2007.  Read More

Nancy Jane Tippitt Voyles, 93, of Findlay, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday morning March 13, 2016-her birthday in her residence. A Celebration of her Life was held 10-11 a.m. today (Wednesday) followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in First Christian Church in Findlay.  Burial was in Wright Cemetery near Findlay.

Nancy was born March 13, 1923 in Findlay, a daughter of Fred and Vera Jane Lesley Tippit. She married Roy Voyles December 16, 1940, and he passed away in 1998.   Read More

Sampson “Sam” D. Burtcheard, 79, lifelong resident of Sullivan, passed away at 6:30 p.m. March 3 with his wife by his side, ending a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Sam was born June 27, 1936 in Moultrie County, only child of Lilly Burtcheard. He retired from Bridgestone Firestone in Decatur. He married Carol Bailey Adams September 22, 1984. He was a die-hard Cub fan and any other sports that happened to be on TV. He spent his retirement years pursuing his lifelong passion…catfishing. He also loved trapping and hunting. Read More

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
