Historical Meeting to Feature Talk on Annie Oakley’s Visit to Bethany
The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold their monthly general meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday April 24 in the Heritage Center. Trivia Night Saturday in Windsor
The Windsor Jr/Sr High School Student Council and the W.H.A.T. community group will host a trivia night Saturday, March 29. Doors will open for dinner at 5 pm, and the trivia game will be begin at 6 pm. Dinner will be a taco salad and drink and desserts will be available. The Sullivan Sports Boosters will be having a pork chop dinner with mouse racing on Saturday. The event will be held at the Sullivan American Legion and will feature Terry Warren catering.

Windsor High School has named juniors Uriah Jones (left) and Paige Woolard (right) their students of the month for January and February. Jones is the son of James and Pamela Jones and is involved in band, drum line, scholastic bowl, WYSE, Team Quest, art club, Spanish club co-president, student council, physics club, ECO Team, and national honor society. Woolard is the daughter of Donald and Rayette Woolard and is involved in volleyball, National Honor Society, student council, physics club, Spanish club, WYSE, junior class president, and Smyser Christian Church youth activities. After she graduates from Windsor High School, she plans to further her education by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Free Internet Classes
Beginning April 1, the Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library will offer patrons a new online continuing education service known as Universal class.
This service is free and may be done at one’s leisure in the comfort of their home if they have internet access. Otherwise the classes may be done at the library. Read More
Society to Meet Thursday
The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Center in Sullivan for the March General Meeting. The speaker for the evening will be Philip Martin of Sullivan, and he will be speaking on the 150th Anniversary of the Charleston Riots.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
J-Creek Church to Host Breakfast Sat.
This Saturday, March 22, Jonathan Creek Christian Church will be hosting a breakfast. The ministry group Caring Christians will be hosting this as a fundraiser. The monies raised will be used to fund their “Weekend Snack Packs for School Children”. From 7 to 10 a.m. they will be serving egg casserole, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, juice and coffee. This is an all-you-can-eat breakfast. They are asking for donations only. Jonathan Creek Christian Church is located at 1425 Jonathan Creek road. 1 and 1/2 miles north of 121 on Cadwell Road.
Stroke and Osteoporosis Screenings Coming to Sullivan
Residents living in and around the Sullivan community may be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. Faith Lutheran Church will host Life Line Screening March 27. The site is located at Route 32 South in Sullivan. Read More
Lovington Kindergarten Pre-Registration
Pre-registration of kindergarten students for the 2014-2015 school year will be held 10 a.m-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the Lovington Grade School office.
Any student who will be five years of age by September 1, 2014 and resides in the Lovington Grade School district is welcome to attend. Read More
