Volunteers Needed for Youth Deer Hunt
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will hold the 5th Annual Youth Firearm Deer Hunt on October 12 and 13. Volunteers are needed to help with the hunt. Volunteers will assist in helping hunters get to and from blinds, tracking, field dressing, dragging deer out of the woods and helping around deer camp. Monticello – Registrations are now being accepted for children ages 7-17 to attend Camp Healing Heart at the University of Illinois 4-H Memorial Park near Monticello, Ill. on October 19. C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation recently showcased their 48th year of accomplishments that demonstrated that community action helps people and changes lives. During the 2013 annual meeting various people and organizations were recognized as valuable community partners who enhanced the level of service to those in need. According to C.E.F.S. Kaskaskia Watershed Association Showcase Meeting
Carlyle Lake - The Kaskaskia Watershed Association, Inc. will hold its 13th Annual Showcase on Friday, September 6, at the Kaskaskia River Marina located in New Athens, Illinois. The event is open to the public and hosted by the Kaskaskia Watershed Association, Inc. (KWA) and the Lower Kaskaskia Stakeholder, Inc (LKSI). Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m.
Immediately following lunch, a three hour barge tour to view areas along the Kaskaskia River will be offered.
This year’s, theme “Kaskaskia Has It All” – River, Recreation, Rail, and Road, will showcase the lower reach of the Kaskaskia River from Fayetteville to the Confluence of the Mississippi River.
