25 Years Ago This Week Forrest and Ruth Adams, both 97, celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary. Ruth said “ Although everything hasn’t been a bed of roses, we’ve had a wonderful 79 years.” An open house reception was held at Sullivan Living Center. Mr. and Mrs. James William “Bill” Shasteen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house at the Sullivan American Legion. Obstruction of Justice Sentence for Warren

•February 27 2019• Jalon Warren, 19, pled guilty to obstruction of justice, was fined $500 and received 24 months probation ending a case that began with a bomb threat note found in a Sullivan High School restroom last year. When arrested on March 26, 2018, Warren was charged with making a terrorism threat, threat on a school building or person (reduced to disorderly conduct) and obstructing justice. The terrorism threat and disorderly conduct charges were dismissed in exchange for the plea bargain during his Feb 21 appearance before the Honorable Hugh Finson in Moultrie County Circuit Court. … Read More

Energy Assistance Funds Still Available

•February 27 2019• The C.E.F.S Economic Opportunity Corporation’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) still has energy assistance funding available for winter utility assistance. Any household that has applied as of October 1, 2018 or after would not be eligible to apply again unless they are being disconnected from their utility service. LIHEAP provides one-time grants to help income eligible households pay for their winter utility expenses. C.E.F.S. began taking LIHEAP applications last October for the current program year 2019. To date in Moultrie County energy benefits totaling $132,147.00 have been approved for 252 households. The average payment per household … Read More

OVMS Hosts Meeting

•February 27 2019• There will be an informational meeting regarding the building referendum at 6:30 p.m. March 6 in the Okaw Valley Middle School Media Center in Findlay. The meetings is intended to provide the community with information about the proposed projects, give residents a chance to provide feedback, and ask questions. The project architect, Damien Schlitt of BLDD, will be present to discuss building plans and how much it could cost. All-Conference Honors for Area Players

•February 27 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Little Okaw Valley Conference announced its All-Conference honors Sunday. Several area players earned LOVC Northwest Division honors including two unanimous selections. Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond senior Marissa Herschberger was a unanimous selection. Herschberger, a unanimous first-team pick last year, averaged 16.4 points per game. Okaw Valley senior Madison Vogel also was a unanimous selection. Vogel averaged 12 points a game and 8.6 rebounds per game. Two other area players made the LOVC NW first-team honors. … Read More

BASO Car Show a success

The Bethany Advocates and Support Organization hosted its annual car show on August 22 at Crowder Park. The perfect afternoon weather bought out 52 entries and many enthusiastic onlookers. Greg Fitzgerald’s 1966 Pontiac GTO took home Best off Show honors.
