Personal bests were the theme for Redskins’ track opener

•April 1, 2026• by E. Scott England The Sullivan Redskins boys track competed at home in a six-team co-ed meet last Tuesday, March 24. After the final event, 54 personal records were set as the boys walked way with a clear victory of 198 points. The next closest team had just 91 points. First place finishes included Logan Fleener in the 100m with a time of 11.99 seconds. He also took first in the 200m at 24.05m. •April 1, 2026• by E. Scott England Julia Moody The Sullivan Lady Redskins hosted a six-team co-ed meet last Tuesday, March 24. The home meet was also their outdoor season home opener. The highlight of the evening was junior Julia Moody running the 3200m. Plagued last year by occasional injuries, Moody vowed to return to competition as a threat. That she did. IDOA launches ‘I-Cover’ program

•April 1, 2026• The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) is relaunching the Infield Conservation for Operationalizing Vital Ecosystem Resilience (I-COVER) Program to promote the early establishment of cover crops using new techniques and/or technology. IDOA secured a $7 million USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) grant to launch the program, which offers cost-share/financial incentives to producers and landowners who are new adopters of cover crops or who utilize new techniques for earlier establishment of cover crops. Quarter madness

•April 1, 2026• Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will hold its April Quarter Auction on Wednesday, April 8th. The event will be held at the Sullivan American Legion Post #68. Moultrie County Beacon, Inc. is the organization of the month. The Moultrie County Beacon has been providing services to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Sullivan since 1968. Poppies to honor those who gave all

On Friday, May 22nd, Ruth Keown, Vice-President of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68, greeted the public at the entrance to the local Post Office, distributing Memorial Poppies. Each year, millions of Americans wear these Memorial Poppies in memory of American service members who lost their lives in war while serving their country, and to assist those Veterans who are now hospitalized or in rehabilitation, suffering from wounds and illnesses. Memorial Day poppies distributed by the American Legion symbolize the ultimate sacrifice made by service members and are a tribute to those who lost their lives in war. Wearing the poppy is a way to honor the fallen and ensure their bravery is never forgotten.
