25 Years Ago This Week Moultrie County’s 777 businesses generated $923,693 in sales tax revenue for city and county governments during the fiscal year. The Bethany varsity eco-team came in fourth in a field of more than 20 schools in a recent Lake Shelbyville eco-meet. Members of the team were science teacher Arlone Doan, J.C. Fitzgerald, Darla Gill, Melissa Ashley and Rachel Polley. The Bethany junior varsity eco-team came in eighth in a field of more than 20 schools in a recent Lake Shelbyville eco-meet. City Council Approves Pay Estimates and Change Order for Water Treatment Plant Project

•October 12, 2022• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Sullivan City Council met Monday, October 10, and approved two pay estimates for the water treatment plant project and one change order. In new and unfinished business the agenda listed two items, but the item on Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Plan was tabled. The first pay estimate in the consent agenda was for $292,410 to Grunloh Construction Inc. Commissioner Chuck Woodworth was absent from the meeting. Mobile Food Pantry

•October 12, 2022• The University of Illinois Extension in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Sullivan United Methodist Church will hold a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, October 26 from 4 to 5 pm at the Sullivan United Methodist Church, 216 W. Jefferson, Sullivan (across from the firehouse). A mobile food pantry delivers a two week supply of food per family in rural communities. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
