Anglers Tribute to Veterans on Lake Shelbyville

•September 21, 2022• The Anglers Tribute to Veterans on Lake Shelbyville is accepting nominations for veterans to receive a day fishing trip on Lake Shelbyville, dinner and drinks at the VFW in Sullivan as well as prizes, giveaways and drawings. The event will be held on Saturday, November 5 from 7:30 am to 3 pm. 24 finalists will be awarded. Forms can be found at Chip’s Marine and online at “Anglers Tribute To Veterans” Facebook page. Mobile Food Pantry

•September 21, 2022• University of Illinois Extension in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Windsor School District will hold a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, October 12 from 4-5 pm at Windsor Grade School. A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady supply of food qualifies to receive food. •September 14, 2022• “If you want to be fully prepared for a disaster, you need an emergency kit.” That’s the message this September for National Preparedness Month. Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Director Alicia Tate-Nadeau wants everyone to review their family emergency plans, fill out a family communications plan, and build an emergency kit. •September 14, 2022• The Moultrie County Retired Teachers Association met recently at First Christian Church in Bethany. President Jane McKown welcomed members and guests and led the Pledge of Allegiance. In the absence of the Scholarship and Grants Chairperson, Karen Edwards, Nancy Schaljo recognized the Sullivan teachers who each received a $100 grant from the MCRTA. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
