25 Years Ago This Week Park commissioner Wayne Lindley credited two members of the England family for Sullivan’s success in landing a $98,800 grant from the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources for work in Wyman Park. Jodi England, a college student, wrote the grant for the city last summer, and her father, Griz, made the three-minute presentation to the state department earlier this fall. The amount from the state must be matched by the city either in cash or in-kind services. City Council Approves Grant Agreement with MCHGS
•November 10, 2021• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The City Council approved a matching grant to the Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society in the amount of $200,000. The city will approve payments to MCHGS twice a year. There was a first reading of the 2021 tax levy. According to City Treasurer Sarah Golden the overall proposed levy is $811,329 which is a 4.76% increase over the prior year extension. It will be up for vote at the first meeting in December. •November 10, 2021• The Moultrie County Health Department (MCHD), in conjunction with IDPH-IEMA, will host COVID-19 Booster and Vaccine Clinics for the GENERAL PUBLIC beginning Thursday, November 11. Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines and boosters will be provided. Pfizer vaccines will also be available for individuals aged 12 years old and older. Tribe Trek Program Receives Grant from Sullivan Rotary

According to Nathan Ogle, Sullivan Middle School principal, Tribe Trek is a summer enrichment program that consists of four field trips over the course of the summer. McCabe Resigns From Moultrie County Board
•November 3, 2021• David McCabe resigned his Moultrie County Board seat on the afternoon of Friday, October 22. In his letter of resignation he gave a reason for resigning. “For the last several weeks I have become increasing troubled by the lack of respect, civility and cooperation between offices, elected officials and department heads,” McCabe wrote. Veterans Day Dinner
•November 3, 2021• The Sullivan American Legion Post 68 organization will be offering a beef and noodle dinner on Veterans Day, November 11 from 5-7 pm. Millikin Women’s Basketball Favored to Win CCIW
•November 3, 2021• The Millikin women’s basketball team was picked to defend its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) title in the 2021-22 CCIW Preseason Women’s Basketball poll released on October 28. The Big Blue were 11-3 last season winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Tournament. Millikin received 63 points in the poll including seven first place votes. Wheaton College was picked second with 58 points and two first place votes.
