County Board Fails to Pass Remapping of Sullivan Township Precincts

•June 16, 2021• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Moultrie County Board failed to pass a motion to approve remapping of Sullivan Township precincts. The current existing map of the precincts was set up by County Clerk Richard Purdeu in June 1989. The proposed map put to the board was drawn up by Bruce Harrison and Associates which is a firm that does considerable work for the county through the assessor’s office. Sullivan Blue Dolphins Now Able To Compete

•June 16, 2021• Sullivan Blue Dolphins Swim Team under the guidance of USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming is now able to attend swim meets under strict COVID requirements. In May, forty-six Dolphins attended a dual competition with the Terre Haute Torpedoes. The weekend of June 5, fourteen swimmers were able to compete at the Capital City Classic meet in Springfield which hosted some of the top swimmers in the state. •June 16, 2021• Boys’ Track and Field The Sullivan boys’ track and field team competed in the IHSA Class 1A Track and Field Sectional #10 at Tuscola Friday, June 11. The Redskins placed seventh out of 17 teams with 27 points. Redskin Terence McRill won the long jump to qualify for the IHSA State Track Meet next Thursday at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Tommy Houser Memorial Golf Tournament

•June 16, 2021• The inaugural Tommy Houser Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 26. Proceeds will go towards the Thomas Houser Memorial Scholarship Fund. Golfing begins at the Sullivan Country Club with sign-ins at 10 am and a shotgun start at 11 am. There will be a McDonald’s Lunch at Noon. Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation.
