Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Team Attends 2021 Competition

•March 3, 2021• Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Team attended their first competition of the year February 5 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The team had dancers in Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions. The following are their results: Group dances–“Headphones,” “Live Your Story,” and “Grasslands” all competed in the Junior Age Category as small group dances and each placed in the Top 10 Overall Group Dances in the Novice Skill Level. Fredia White Heaven gained a special guardian angel. Fredia Mae (Price) White, 90, of Sullivan passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 5, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Lake Land College Introduces Court Reporting Degree Program

•March 3, 2021• The Court Reporting Technology Degree program is a new special admission program at Lake Land College beginning Fall 2021. The introduction of the program follows the increased high demand for court reporting and closed-captioning professionals throughout the nation. Lake Land College business faculty worked closely with area court reporters to create the degree program, which will train students for careers in the judicial setting as either official or freelance court reporters. 25 Years Ago This Week An estimated 1,500 people gathered to see Sullivan’s new $5.6 million elementary school for the first time. The ceremony was capped by the official presentation of the school by the builders– Jim Graham of Graham, O’Shea & Hyde Architects and Tim Erickson of Williams Brothers Construction– to Elementary Principal Rita Florey and six students representing the grade levels at the new school. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
