25 Years Ago This Week Sullivan native Kathy Best, a Washington correspondent for the St. Louis Post Dispatch, was chosen as Alumna of the Year by Southern Illinois University’s School of Journalism in Carbondale. Matt Kracht, a Sullivan High School social studies teacher was named the first Teacher of Excellence award winner. As the winner Kracht received a plaque and a check for $1,000 to be used for equipment for his classroom.Kracht also received an additional $582 as part of a mini-grant program sponsored by the Sullivan Community Education Foundation. … Read More

The Knights kicked off their season with a 21-16 loss to a tough Cumberland team at Toledo Friday. ALAH took a 3-0 lead with a 33-yard field goal by Aaron Likens, but Cumberland scored on the next two possessions for 14-3 lead in the second quarter. Illinois Moving Closer to Higher Capacity Limits

•March 24, 2021• With 64 percent of the state’s seniors having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Monday, March 22, Illinois is nearing the “bridge” phase of reopening that will allow for greater capacity limits at businesses and social gatherings. That number must hit 70 percent to enter the bridge phase, which would trigger another 28-day monitoring period.
