Many things have had to be modified for safety and not only has the staff come up with new ideas, the families have been creative as well, specifically one family that has made it possible for tenants to actually “hug” their loved one. Allen “Lee” Slater Allen “Lee” Slater, 90, of Windsor passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021 at home. Lee was born August 23, 1930, in Pana, the son of John and Mildred Slater. Lee grew up in Windsor, graduating from Windsor High School in 1948; he was a star basketball player. After graduation, Lee attended Millikin University before marrying Elizabeth Kays, his high school sweetheart, in 1949. Lee joined the family business, Windsor Supply Co., where he worked building and remodeling homes. He built many homes in and around the Windsor area, including the Slater Subdivision. 25 Years Ago This Week City employees were given a flat $750 annual raise by the Sullivan City Council. The commissioners were authorized to give the department superintendents any additional increase over the $750 if they deemed it appropriate. Sullivan’s new elementary school was just short of completion, Sullivan School Superintendent Rich Voltz told the school board. The new school would be ready in February if it weren’t for the fact that the gym floor isn’t complete. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
